About The Inn

COOPER HILL is just minutes from area activities, including shopping, antiquing, swimming, boating, museums, tennis, golf, an alpine slide, a scenic train ride and much more.

From late September to the end of October, colors of red, gold, and crimson burst forth in their varied splendor. There is no better place in the area to view the spectacular fall foliage than right here at COOPER HILL INN. It is the perfect time of year for a chairlift ride up the mountain, or just browsing quaint local villages, taking in a craft fair or enjoying a local harvest festival.

The inn is also a perfect destination for many workshops, small business or spiritual retreats, family gatherings and reunions, and wedding receptions throughout the year.

When you come in from the cold, you are welcome to enjoy our Yamaha upright piano or read a good book by the fire, or make yourself at home in any of the other Common Areas in the inn. We have a limited but (I think) interesting wine list, and a good selection of New England's craft beers available.

COOPER HILL INN invites you to enjoy its breathtaking setting and the relaxed country lifestyle here in Vermont. We are situated near the top of Cooper Hill which is really a 2700 foot mountain in the southern part of the Green Mountain Chain. The inn commands panoramic views 100 miles to the east, which inspired the poet Miriam Andrews to write:

"Ocean tides of Mountains that flow and mist and shine and darken beyond Cooper Hill"

Off the back deck you can make out the lifts at the top of Mount Snow Ski Resort.

We are truly a "country" Inn.  Most Inns are on or near the main road, Route 100 here in southern Vermont.  It takes about 12 minutes to get down off our mountain if you want to ski at Mount Snow but you can go cross country or snowshoeing out the door in the Winter.  If you want to admire the Autumn leaves, just go for a walk. We are surrounded by 10 acres of landscaped flower gardens, lawns, fields and a wooded forest.  One mile up a dirt road across from the Inn you will find 1500 acres of Town Woods and 16,000 acres of Green Mountain National Forest. We offer peaceful seclusion for a ‘Weekend Getaway.’ We are also a popular spot for weddings and special events. Spring brings the flowers with over 100 peonies that bloom in June.  Originally a farmhouse built in 1797, today the inn is a sprawling colonial home with 10 individually decorated rooms. Gracing the south and east side of the inn is a large covered porch. Start your day with a hearty New England Breakfast and cool, clean mountain air. Relax in the evening with a glass of wine by the fire or on our deck with a spectacular sunset over Mount Snow.

Whatever the season, you will find COOPER HILL INN to have an inspiring beauty all its own. Hiking, walking and mountain bike trails radiate in all directions right from the inn.  There are several good golf courses in the area and some of the best trout fishing in Vermont.  If you really must you can stay in touch with the Inn's free Wi-Fi.
